No matter your age, having beautiful, glowing, youthful skin is something that we all strive for. Of course your skin in your 20’s is not going to be the same as your skin in your 40’s or 50’s, but there are ways to take proper precautions and care for every age group.
Renee Rouleau, bicoastal celebrity aesthetician and skin care expert, helps us weigh in on preventative care:
In Your 20’s:
You may have occasional breakouts that carry over from your teen years, find products that prevent clogged pores without being overly drying, like serums and salicylic acid. It’s also a good time to start preventing wrinkles with injectables.
In Your 30’s:
You aren’t in your 20’s anymore, so finding anti-aging products that are appropriate for your skin type will be key. There may be an onset of melasma and hyperpigmentation (from pregnancy and hormonal fluctuations), so using products that have Vitamin C or other medical grade products like Dermaceutic will help with prevention. Sunscreen is always important, but much of the damage from the sun happens when you are younger, so protecting at every age is imperative!
In Your 40’s: It’s all about the eyes! Are you noticing “crowsfeet” in areas that you didn’t before? Using an eye cream twice a day, like Lifeline Eye Cream, will help to regenerate and firm keeping those lines at bay! Using a neuromodulator, such as Botox, Dysport of Xeomin, around the “crowsfeet” will also help to relax those wrinkles (for up to 4 months!)
In Your 50’s & 60’s: Collagen and Elastin fibers become weakened over time, and your skin will start to lose tone. Collagen boosting professional peels done at the change of every season, good skincare products at home, and daily moisturizing and sunscreen, should all become part of your regular skincare treatment plan. Non-surgical laser treatments like “Reaction Re-Lift” can also help tighten and tone the skin around your neck and face. Dermal Fillers can also help add volume to your face as well as help reduce the deep folds and lines around your mouth (fillers like Radiesse, Voluma XC, Juvederm XC, Restylane and Perlane all work well and can last over a year).
Aging is inevitable – why not look fabulous?
