Wrinkles, Be Gone!

Does The Fountain of Youth Really Exist?
There may not be an actual fountain, but there are definitely ways that you can preserve your youth. Yes, we would all love to “age gracefully” and look like we did in our wrinkle-free 20’s. The reality is that wrinkles are caused by age, elastin and collagen breakdown, excessive sun exposure and dry, dehydrated skin; all things that are harder to avoid as we get older. That’s the bad news. The good news is that though we may not physically be able to turn back the beauty clock, there are definitely treatments and injectables available to help slow it down.

Botox, Dysport and Xeomin – What Are They?
All three products are FDA approved prescription injectables that contain Botulinum Toxin Type A, and all three work in similar ways to help relax facial muscles. They are injected into the skin (muscle) in an outpatient procedure that is relatively pain free, inexpensive and quick (often referred to as the “lunchtime” procedure). The injections help to reduce facial lines or wrinkles such as frown (or worry lines) on the forehead, lines between the eyebrows, crows feet, laugh lines or other areas that wrinkles can be prominent. The results are not permanent, but will last anywhere between 3-5 months.

Though the three different products are all relatively the same, no Neurotoxin is created equally. It’s more about personal choice and outcome when choosing the appropriate injectable.. All three will help reduce those pesky wrinkles and fine lines, and results tend to last longer when coupled with a good skincare regimen, sunscreen, diet and lots of water. You will want to ask an experienced provider what they think will work best for you.
