Got a Minute? Get a Peel!

If you’ve been considering getting a facial peel but don’t want to take the time or spend the money for some of the more extensive treatments that are available, consider the NV Micro peel. It’s often called the “lunchtime peel” because it’s that quick! And since there’s so little downtime following the treatment, it’s an especially attractive alternative that will easily fit in your busy schedule.

What is the NV Micro Peel?

This procedure is performed as an outpatient cosmetic procedure. A dermatologist, nurse or other licensed professional applies a light solution to your skin and in some cases oxygen or CO2 is added to help enhance the solution’s effectiveness. The treatment is specially designed to help reduce wrinkles and fine lines and to help even out your skin tone. It will also help minimize enlarged pores and lighten areas of skin discoloration as well as help to remove damaged and dead skin cells. This allows more of the healthy and youthful-looking you to shine through.

Micro peels are less aggressive than most other more traditional chemical peels. The NV Micro peel will leave your skin smoother and more vibrant in only 15 to 30 minutes. When you first arrive for your treatment, your provider will carefully wash your skin to prepare it and then apply a glycolic acid-based treatment solution. As soon as the peel has been applied, you’re done and are free to leave! That’s it!

The solution may create a mild burning or itching sensation to occur. This is normal, so don’t worry! Placing an ice pack or a cool compress on the area of sensitivity will help soothe any irritation. A moisturizing cream applied after the stinging subsides will help to prevent your skin from drying out. There is absolutely no downtime. You can apply your makeup and resume all your normal activities, unlike other more traditional chemical peels.  Your friends will notice a more radiant, more youthful-looking you, but without any side-effects.

What’s the downside to NV Micro Peel?

There aren’t many disadvantages to this treatment, but there are a few. If you have very deep creases and skin folds, the Micro Peel may not provide dramatic results. Your dermatologist will be able to recommend the treatment best suited to fit your unique needs. Also, if you have very sensitive skin, your doctor may recommend a different treatment, as the NV Micro Peel may cause prolonged inflammation to your skin’s sensitive tissues.

What are the expected results?

Similar to the results of more traditional peels, your skin will slough off the dead skin cells to make room for new healthy skin, so you should expect to see shedding of your skin. The full results of the NV Micro Peel should be realized in two weeks. The best results will be obtained by completing at least six treatments, allowing at least two weeks between each treatment. The usual course is then to go to a maintenance schedule of one treatment every 6 to 12 weeks.
