Plasma Rich Platelet (PRP) treatments are used to alleviate discomfort and accelerate the healing process. In order to avoid reactive antibodies and aid in healing, your own platelets are used during the PRP treatment process. This treatment method is especially good if you want to improve your skin texture, tighten your skin, minimize the appearance of your pores and/or restore that youthful “glow.” It is commonly used to treat a variety of skin conditions such as: nasolabial groves, crow’s feet and lips, chest, neck and forehead wrinkles, as well as under the eye dark circles and bags. PRP treatments have also been effective in reducing loose, saggy skin, rosacea and acne scars. During the procedure, a small blood sample is taken from your arm. The sample is then placed into a centrifuge and spun in an effort to separate the plasma from your platelets. The platelet-rich plasma is then inserted into a solution and injected into the treatment area.
This procedure is natural (it uses your own cells to rejuvenate your appearance) and non-painful. It is also fairly quick – lasting between 30 and 40 minutes, per session. In most cases, you will notice a significant improvement in your appearance within a month of treatment. PRP treatments are safer than most surgical procedures. They work by using your natural platelets (i.e. cells that clot your blood) to rebuild and restore collagen, a protein that is commonly found in your skin, tendons, ligaments, blood vessels, corneas, gastrointestinal tract and bones. In other words, it is the “glue that holds your body together.” Collagen also helps prevent wrinkles, crow’s feet and other age-related skin conditions by tightening your skin and strengthening your blood vessels. Simply put, PRP treatments help channel your body’s own restorative resources to the areas of your body that need them most.
If you are looking to naturally improve your appearance and/or restore your youthful glow – you have com come the right place. This blog will explain the benefits of PRP treatments so that you can determine if these they are right for you!
The benefits of PRP treatments:
PRP treatments provide relatively quick results, as compared to most traditional surgeries. You may even notice a positive change in your skin texture and appearance within a week of your first PRP treatment. It is important to note that although you may notice significant improvements within a month following treatment; it may take between six and eight months for you to experience optimal results. Moreover, it is best that you wait at least one month between treatments – this allows your body to produce additional platelets.
In most cases, you will need approximately three treatments to achieve your ideal appearance. These treatments are generally scheduled on a monthly basis. In other words, if you elect to try this procedure you will schedule three separate appointments, approximately a month apart. In some cases, you may only need one treatment, but that depends on the purpose of the treatment.
PRP treatments are not only safe, but also long-lasting. In the majority of cases, the results last for approximately two years or more. It is important to note that the length of the results depends largely on the condition of your body and the number of procedures performed. Although this treatment works best with younger individuals (i.e. they are able to regenerate new, healthy cells at a faster rate), it is beneficial for people of all ages.
PRP treatments typically have little to no side-effects. The most commonly reported side-effect is a temporary “pinkness” or redness at the injection site. Slight bruising from the needle insertion has been reported. Side-effects typically subside within a week.
Non-Surgical Cosmetic Procedure
One of the most touted benefits associated with PRP treatments is that it is non-surgical. As mentioned previously, your own natural cells stimulate collagen production and improve the appearance of your skin. Because this is a non-surgical, natural cosmetic procedure, you are able to resume your normal routine immediately, with little-to-no side-effects. There is a lower risk of complications and infections, commonly associated with surgical procedures.
